It’s day two of the cruise, and today all the guests will get-together at the breakfast in the hotel lobby. All of them will enjoy the included exciting tour of Lisbon’s city centre and will get amazed on the sight of yellow-trams moving swiftly in tree-lined boulevards.

It’s the visit to the Jeronimos Monastery, that is a UNESCO World Heritage-listed site, showcases the magic of Gothic Manueline architecture present in Portugal.

On day three of Lisbon & Secrets of the Douro cruise, guests staying at the hotel, after having breakfast, can explore the top-attractions of the city of Lisbon on their own. It’s the cobbled alleyways and the great Roman ruins of the city who’ll tell the magnificent history of Lisbon.

Emerald Cruises have offered the option to take a paid excursion to Sintra, an enchanting town located nearby the hills of the Serra de Sintra. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage-listed site having 19 century architecture and amazing palaces.

On the morning of day four, the guests staying at the hotel will check-out after having breakfast in the hotel lobby. They’ll be travelling in north direction along the Atlantic coast and will have a brief stop-over at Obidos, a medieval gem having charming white-washed houses and narrow alleys.

After having another stop-over at the town of Nazare, having some of largest waves in Europe; guests will arrive in Porto. The guests will board the Emerald Cruise’s Star-ship in the afternoon and guests will have dinner with fellow travellers on board.

It’s the morning of day five, the guests onboard the Emerald’s Star-ship will enjoy the sail for a complete day and relish the views of the scenic UNESCO World Heritage-listed Douro Valley.

The area of the Douro Valley has been built on two millennia of wine producing history and the surrounding villages are showered with plenty of sun-drenched vineyards.

It’s day six and the guests will begin their day with a guided tour to the beautiful Quinta do Tedo vineyard. Located on confluence of the Douro and Tedo rivers, this 18 century estate creates organic products by using the traditional viticulture methods.

Guests can either take a walk through the vineyards of the region or go on a kayaking mission along the Douro River, enjoying the scenic views of the Douro Valley. Later on, the cruise will sail to Vega de Terrón in the evening.

In the morning of day seven, the Emerald Cruise’s Star-ship will reach the port of Vega de Terrón, a unique ship docking port. The guests will then move on for a guided tour to the Spanish city of Salamanca, a city held by the Carthaginians, Romans, and Moors.

t’s popularly known as the ‘Golden City’ and guests will love the arcades at Plaza Mayor and shouldn’t miss-out on the opportunity to see Casa de las Conchas having more than 300 shells. Later in the evening, the cruise will move towards Pocinho.

It’s day eight, the Emerald Cruise’s Star-ship will reach the docking port of Pocinho, and the guests will take an onward journey to the beautiful medieval town of Castelo Rodrigo. Guests onboard can take a guided walking tour to this small village’s forts and can try out some typical local products.

Travellers will then return to Emerald Cruise’s Star-ship for having lunch while enjoying a Port wine cocktail lesson on board. Later, the cruise will continue its journey towards Régua.

On the morning of day nine, the cruise will reach the effervescent town of Régua, located in the Douro Valley. Guests will have plenty of options for excursions to choose from and they can even explore on their own.

Travellers can begin from visiting the Duoro Museum and checking-out the beautiful riverside promenade of Régua. The Shrine of Our Lady of Remedies, village of Lamego, and having lunch at Quinta da Pacheca are other notable attractions for the stop-over at Régua.

It’s day ten of the Lisbon & Secrets of the Douro cruise, the Emerald Cruise’s Star-ship will reach the town of Porto, located on the mouth of the Douro River. It’s famous for the export of Port wines and has an amazing mix of modern and ancient architecture.

Emerald Cruises have organised a guided tour to the city of Porto and the guests onboard can even pay & enjoy a cruise on the Douro through Porto. Castelo da Foz and Castelo do Queijo are other notable attractions of Porto which are frequently visited by the travellers coming here.
